bring on the holidays!
D.W.Q.M.: "You've redecorated!" -Sarah Jane Smith (from the Tenth Doctor story, School Reunion.)
Went to storage today and pulled out all of my Christmas boxes-so I'll be ready for this weekend!! Woo-hoo! :) I still need to get some stuff for the porch-I'm going to put the small tree I've had since college outside this year-I might need to find something for it to stand on, though-when I brought it home from storage, I put it directly out onto the porch (since it's out of the way and will have to go there eventually). It's not very tall! You'll only be able to see the tip from the street. :( I'll figure it out...
Have I mentioned that I LOVE this time of year? We were driving down Euclid Hts Blvd, towards Coventry around sunset-since there was an actual break in the clouds, the sun was peaking through and hit the trees in the neighboorhood. Despite the wind and the rain, many of them are still full of leaves-OMG! It was gorgeous! I wish I had my camera.
Still slowly unpacking-but I have managed to get a few more things up on the wall, and put some stuff away in the built-in china cabinets. I still need to pull my framed posters from storage. I decided that my movie posters will go in my bedroom, instead of the living room (I know, what a shock!) Don't worry, tho-I still have some geeky things in the living room, like my Star Wars and Star Trek collectors plates. ;) Ooh! I've put up my Thanksgiving decorations. I ran into my new-new landlord today (my now new-old landlord was trying to sell the place when I moved in-the new owners are pretty cool, and will honor my lease-yay! Their son will be living on the first floor) Anyhoo, we got to talking, and he's either going to repair the washer and dryer, or see about getting new ones. Yay!!! Until then, it's off to the laundromat...
Greenbay won today-they are now 9-1!!!!!!!!! Woo-hoo!!! Case won on Saturday-they are still undefeated and will be going to the second round in the playoffs!!!! WOW! YAY!!!! Go Spartans!! Labels: football, holidays, life in general, the seasons

the Leonids!! Comet Holmes!!
D.W.Q.M.: Duke Juliano: "There's this man in Florence- claims that by arranging ground glasses in a certain order, it's possible to see the moon and stars as large as your hand." Marco: "Is that a good thing?" (from the 4th Doctor story, The Masque of Mandragora)
The Leonids peak this weekend!!! Sunday, November 18th, 1:00am, EST. Unfortunately, our weather up here looks to be a bit cloudy, and well-rainy/snowy. Hope the rest of you have clear skies! Leonid meteor shower
Also, you can still check out the comet!!! I was at Perseph's this past weekend, and it was clear enough so I could show everyone. :) I also went outside Monday night to observe the comet (my neighbors must think I'm really weird, standing outside in the cold with a pair of binoculars staring up at the sky...) I think it's getting more difficult to spot with the naked eye (although, if it's dark enough, you can still do it...at least at the beginning of the week-been too cloudy the rest of the week to check.) I also noticed (through the binoculars) that the comet's diameter seems to be getting bigger. (I hear it's diameter is now bigger than the sun's...) More about the comet.
Holmes is starting to get close to Perseus's Mirfak, and on November 19th, it will look like the star is actually inside the comet's glow!! Cool!!!! I hope the sky will be clear enough for me to catch that!!! Observation notes about the comet from around the world
Clear skies and happy viewing!!!Labels: astronomy, cool stuff

Stupid spam!!!
D.W.Q.M.: "The trouble with computers, of course...is that they're very sophisticated idiots..." -the Fourth Doctor
Apologies to anyone who may have tried to use my dreamingheart email over the past week or so. I didn't have a chance to check it, and when I finally got around to it today, I had nearly 1700 messages (almost all of it was spam-grr!) It's only been 2 weeks! Yikes! I didn't get any 'you've reached your quota' emails, but they may have gotten lost in the hoards and hoards of spam I've had to sift through. I have received legitmate email from 11/10/07, so that's a good sign, I guess! I hope my email hasn't bounced back to any real people trying to contact me. If it has-I'm sorry!
Well, now it's late and I'm off to get some sleep. Nighty-nite, don't let the spammers bite!!! ;)Labels: annoyances, life in general

It's a comet!!!!
So, have you seen Comet Holmes yet? I was able to find it!!! Me!! In my own front yard...in Cleveland!!!!!
Ok, I'll back up a few steps. For those who might not have heard, Comet Holmes suddenly became visible to the naked eye when it puffed out a huge cloud of dust on October 24th. Shocked astronomers all over the world. And the best part...it's really easy to find in the night sky!!!
To the unaided eye, it just looks like an extra star in the constellation Perseus. Grab a decent pair of binoculars (that's all it takes at the moment!), and you can clearly see it's not your average star. :)
Astronomers aren't sure how long you'll be able to see the comet without help, so enjoy it while you can!!!
Need help finding the comet? Sky and Telescope has a helpful article to help you find it. They also have sky maps/charts to help you out! Here's a couple for tonight:
8:00pm, EST

11:00pm, EST
(Special thanks to Sky and Telescope for allowing the use of these images!)
I have an older pair of binoculars and was able to spot 'the little fuzzball' from my front yard. I saw it November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Since then, though, it's been quite cloudy. Hopefully the weather will clear up this weekend-this will be the best time to see the comet!
Jerm was looking for it (I think it was last Thursday morning?) He said when he went out, he looked just at the right place at the right time, and saw a spectacular meteor! Lucky dog! I was on the phone with my sister Sunday night, trying to help her find the comet-she spotted 3 meteors!
Clear skies and happy viewing!!!
